I’ve been using a PC for the last five or so years. After FC7, I jumped ship and switched to Premiere. One of the most frustrating things i’ve had to deal with has been dealing with quicktime files and the lack of ProRes. Well, Blackmagic Design fixed that with the release of DaVinci Resolve 12.5.1.
The latest release of Resolve supports Apple ProRes decode on Windows. Resolve now reads and writes .mov files natively, for better trimming and multicam editing performance, and H.264 playback has been improved for Windows and Linux users.
For colorists, Blackmagic has accelerated performance of spatial noise-reduction in “better” mode, added the ability to align keyframe timelines of color grades, and other tweaks designed to make everyday tasks easier.
New format support includes H.265 decode on Linux, alpha-channel in DNxHR 444, Sony X-OCN, and more.
